NOVEMBER 2001
BULB BONANZA 2001
This is a project aimed at helping communities in Derwentside brighten up their environment. We had quite a few entries this year from community groups across the region. The winning applicants were:
Friday Fun Club (Tantobie Community Centre) Consett Infant School and Nursery Unit
Moorside Primary School Hamsterley & Low Westwood Residents Assoc.
South Stanley Partnership Harelaw Gardens Residents Assoc.
Ebchester Primary School Leadgate Junior School
Cornsay Parish Council Craghead Millennium Green Trust
Langley Park Primary School Lanchester Parish Council
Delves Lane Community Association Burnside Youth Group

After much deliberation over entries for Bulb Bonanza 2001, Acorn Trust is happy to announce that these 14 entries will be receiving bulbs to brighten up their area.   Entries were received from schools and community groups throughout Derwentside.   The groups along with Trust staff will be given daffodil bulbs to plant in imaginative designs. The community involvement is hoped to give a sense of pride, ownership and enjoyment to the village or school.   Planting begins on Wednesday 7th November 2001 and will continue throughout November and the first week in December.   We look forward to working with all those involved and seeing their Bulb Bonanzas in bloom next spring.
