The Blue Heaps is one of our most exciting up coming projects.   It involves creating much improved community involvement and use of an urban wildlife site right at the heart of Consett.   Most recently Acorn Trust celebrated its recent achievements of step, habitat and seating improvements with the opening of an informative plinth made of specially treated steel to reflect the sites history (see picture).   Proposed developments include, a full disabled access cycle route with interpretation features, habitat improvements/creation, seating, boardwalk and school involvement in producing artwork and a greater appreciation of this local resource.   Funding and approval of the proposed developments are currently being sought.   Look out for news of this soon.
