White-Le-Head Community Garden

Acorn Trust has worked in partnership with the residents of White-le-Head, Derwentside District Council and local contractor Brambledown Landscape Ltd. The project has involved creating a community garden within the crescent of an elderly housing estate. The garden will include individual gates and fencing for each house, trees, a paved seating area, pergola entrance, disabled access, grassed areas and plants (see picture). To date, the garden has full disabled access, a pergola entrance feature, paved seating area and new boundary fencing with gates. Government auditors, as an example of 'good practice' have also commended the project. Look out for more updates and an opening date, hopefully in April!
